School & College Engagement

This project has grown out of the work started at St Nicholas Church in Sutton.

No volunteering was possible during 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But prior to that, the project had weekly volunteers from a class of young adults with learning difficulties.

The project started again in October 2021. The participants are SEND students from Carshalton College. They are 16+ and developing skills for work.

From September 2022 we will also start working with students from Orchard Hill College.

The FE students worked on a variety of different projects. These include helping to create the Dr George Rice Community Garden and helping the Welsh welsh Presbyterian Chapel in Lind Road create a small garden at the rear of the chapel. Other tasks will be helping plant bulbs on road verges and delivering leaflets in the SM1 4 postcode area.
