Marks of Mission

The five marks of mission have been widely adopted as an understanding of the purposes of contemporary mission.

The Church of England and other denominations used them as the basis of action plans and creative mission ideas.

• To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom.

• To teach, baptise and nurture new believers.

• To respond to human needs by loving service.

• To seek to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and to pursue peace and reconciliation.

• To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.

These marks of mission can be abbreviated to five words:

TELL – TEACH – TEND – TRANSFORM – TREASURE.

The intention of Suttonfx is that as it matures as an expression of church it will reflect the 5 marks of mission in its activities.
